TSMV Construction Update May 2026
Across all aspects of development, Three Sisters Mountain Village is focused on creating complete neighbourhoods that balance environmental stewardship, housing choice, economic vitality, and quality of life. This summer Three Sisters Mountain Village as well as our partners; the Town of Canmore and the Province of Alberta will be accessing our lands to facilitate construction that ensures the safety, security, and longevity of our community and include the following projects:
- Roundabout Construction on the Three Sisters Parkway
- Three Sisters Pathway Detour Re-instated
- Three Sisters Village Phase 1 Construction
- Trail Rehabilitation Work (Alberta Parks)
Roundabout Construction on the Three Sisters Parkway
Construction on Three Sisters Parkway will restart as early as May 1, 2026. A plan to address traffic movement during construction has been approved by Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors and will be implemented along the Parkway. This plan includes the return of the signalization lights (red/green traffic lights) to manage the one lane of traffic that will be allowed to move through the construction zone. Construction is anticipated to take about 6 to 8 weeks, weather dependant.
Please ensure to follow all traffic signs and keep your speeds low within construction zones for your safety and that of our construction crews.

Three Sisters Creek Pathway Detour Re-Instated
The detour pathway will be reopened and will provide a way for users to get around the construction of the new Three Sisters Parkway roundabout. Please reduce your speeds on the detour pathway and ensure that you stop and look in both directions prior to crossing the Three Sisters Parkway. Signage will be provided to warn the pathway and Parkway users of the construction activities and trail signs will be provided at key points to relay the detour to users before it is encountered. Snow fencing will be erected on the western edge of the pathway to prevent the general public from entering Three Sisters Village Phase 1.
See the image above for pathway detour.
Three Sisters Village Phase 1 Construction
Three Sisters Village Phase 1 will resume construction in April. This construction season, we will be working on completing the underground infrastructure (water, sewer, storm), shallow utility services, and the surface works which includes building the roads, curbs, sidewalks and active transport zones.
We will also be getting started on the parks and open space areas east of the creek which includes work on multi-use pathways, gravel pathways, building mountain bike trails, creating a new dog park experience in the trees, a new playground and a brand new bike park. The bike park will include asphalt beginner and intermediate pump tracks, and beginner to expert jump lines. These park assets will not be available for public use until the Fall when they are expected to fully constructed and turned over the Town of Canmore Parks department.
Pathway users will be required to stay off the transmission line pathway through Three Sisters Village and stay on approved Town of Canmore or Province of Alberta pathways only.

Trail Rehabilitation Work (Alberta Parks)
Three Sisters Mountain Village has been working with AB Parks on the Canmore Area Trails Master Plan alongside other stakeholders like CAMBA to provide input and feedback into the management of trails while continuing to protect wildlife corridor movement in the Bow Valley. As a result of the input and feedback, AB Parks is looking to build a new Three Sisters Connector trail west of Three Sisters Creek and rehabilitate and close the existing Three Sisters Connector.
Alberta Parks will also be working on extensions to the Cloudline trail that will facilitate use as an “out & back trail”. This will be in the form of smaller loops on the west and east ends of the trail that will allow it to function through future anticipated construction anticipated to build the wildlife underpass for Smith Creek and the steep creek mitigation work on Stewart Creek. The province and Three Sisters Mountain Village are working in partnership to try and minimise disruptions to use of this popular trail.
While we do not have a map of the proposed new trail alignment, please see the map below of the existing trails mentioned above.
